Weekend Weather Update
Winter just won’t go away and that means another chilly weekend ahead. The weekend will start off with a band of moisture moving into the Ozarks, south of HWY 50 close to 7 PM Friday. Some light rain showers are possible with this but will transition to snow showers by 8 PM. Not much accumulation is expected except possibly a dusting on grassy surfaces.
Saturday will be sunny but cold, starting off near 20 degrees. The northerly breeze will bring wind chills down to near 10 in the morning for a bitterly cold start to the day. Sunshine will only boost our temperatures into the low 40s in the afternoon which is 20 degrees below average.
Another Pacific wave moves in Sunday, bringing with it moisture as temperatures remain cold. Light snow is possible by late-morning near HWY 65, spreading east through early afternoon. Minor accumulation is possible before it changes to rain. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing so any accumulation looks more likely on grassy surfaces. If the storm system speeds up, we’ll need to watch roads since morning temperatures will be below freezing. At this time, no impacts are expected for travel in Mid-Missouri Sunday since during most of the event, we’ll be above freezing. Please check back for updates to this forecast.
