Osage County deputies ask for community’s help in buying K-9
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help in buying a narcotics detection and tracking K-9.
Sheriff Mike Bonham said the county is dealing with drug problems and believes a K-9 could help. “No doubt about it that a lot of the criminal activity is associated with drugs, such as the numerous thefts we have. People are stealing stuff, selling it at pawn shops, selling it here and there just so they can get money to get their fix,” Bonham said.
Officers estimate the purchase of the dog, putting it through training and dealing with other associated expenses will cost the department $14,859.
Starting April 6 through June 30, the sheriff’s department will be collecting donations from people in the community for the new K-9.
