Jontay Porter to enter NBA Draft without agent

Mizzou forward Jontay Porter will join his brother, Michael, and enter the NBA Draft.

However, Porter will not sign with an agent. Therefore, he can still decide to return to Mizzou for his sophomore season. The deadline to decide whether or not to return is May 30.

In his freshman season, Porter averaged 9.9 points per game as well as 6.8 rebounds per game.

The former Tolton star reclassified in order to play for the Tigers this season and skip his senior year of high school. Like his brother, Porter was a highly rated recruit that was listed as a five-star recruit for 2019 before he reclassified.

The SEC named Porter to the All-Conference Freshman team as well as the conference sixth man of the year award.

In a statement, Porter said, “I have loved everything about my experience, on and off the court as a member of the Mizzou family but have always dreamed of playing in the NBA.

According to recent draft grades and mock drafts, Jontay Porter grades out as a late first-round or second-round pick. His brother Michael is listed as a top-10 selection. Michael Porter Jr. did sign with an agent, so he is not eligible to return to play for Mizzou.

The NBA draft begins June 21.
