Jefferson City police release results of their Youth Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign

Jefferson City police released the results of the Youth Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign that happened during March 15 – 31.

Officers said during the enforcement, they issued a total of 457 tickets. Most of the tickets were issued for exceeding the posted speed limit, adult seat belt violations and hazardous moving violations.

Police said they also issued four tickets for child restraint violations.

Seat belts are your single best defense in a crash,” stated Chief Schroeder. “Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make the simple, smart choice to buckle up and arrive alive.”

Officers said 33% of teens still do not buckle up and eight out of ten Missouri teens that are killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled.
