UPDATE: Jon Hensley wins Ward 5 Jefferson City Council seat

UPDATE: Jon Hensley won with 428 votes (45.92 percent). Crabtree received 276 votes (29.61 percent) while Jones-Kaufman garnered 224 votes (24.03 percent).

Three candidates will go head to head for the Ward 5 City Council seat in Jefferson City Tuesday night.

Mark Schreiber and Larry Henry are the current Ward 5 City Council members. Henry’s term expires this year while Schreiber’s term expires in 2019.

Jon Hensley, Jim Crabtree and Ashley Jones-Kaufman are all vying for the Ward 5 seat. Incumbents in all other wards are running unopposed.

Also on the Cole County ballot-the Board of Education race. Voters will choose two people for the available seats on the Jefferson City Public Schools’ Board of Education. The incumbents are Pam Murray and Michael Couty while Ken Enloe and Lindsey Rowden are hoping to get on to the board for the first time.
