Hundreds lose power in Cole County

UPDATE – 6:30 A.M.: More than 600 customers are still without power after an early morning outage.

It’s about half the amount of customers that were at one point without power in the western end of Jefferson City.

The Hy-Vee market near the Capital Mall told ABC 17 News it was affected by the power outage, but is still open and able to function.

ABC 17 News contacted Ameren Missouri about the outage to confirm the cause and details on the repair process but there has not yet been a reply.

ORIGINAL: A series of power outages affected more than 1,400 customers in Cole County Tuesday morning.

According to the Ameren Missouri Outage Map, the affected areas are located near the west side of Jefferson City.

At least 1,454 customers were affected by the power loss, comprising just under 5 percent of the total customers served in the county.

The cause of the outages are listed as “undetermined” as of 4:30 a.m.

ABC 17 News has contacted Ameren Missouri to learn more about what may have caused the outages, and how long they will last.
