Another shot of winter air expected through the week

TONIGHT: We are going to see a dry and clear night ahead as clouds decrease through the early evening. This will set the stage for a very cold night across the region. Winds will gradually subside through the night, but will still be quite breezy out of the northwest up to 20 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the low to mid 20s, with wind chills falling into the teens.

WEDNESDAY: Bundle up as you head out the door Wednesday morning, as wind chills for the first part of the morning will remain in the teens. Despite the sunshine, the cold air in place will only allow highs to climb into the mid 40s. Winds won’t be a breezy, as they back out of the west up to 15 mph. A jacket will be needed through the day, as wind chills will likely stay in the 30s.

EXTENDED: Thursday looks to be the “nicest” day, as highs climb into the mid and upper 50s under partly cloudy skies. You’ll want to enjoy Thursday because another round of cold air is set to track into Mid-Missouri. Following the increasing clouds into Thursday, an upper level wave will track into the region and could bring a few spot showers Thursday evening, with an increasing chance for a wintry mix by Friday. Highs Friday and into the weekend will struggle to climb out of the upper 30s and mid 40s, making it known that winter isn’t going anywhere. Another chance of rain moves in Sunday as temperatures stay cool, only reaching the low 50s. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest forecast and updates.
