Winter Not Letting Go of Mid-Missouri
TODAY : It’s a cold start to our Easter Sunday across Mid-Missouri. After the sun rises, we’ll see the clouds return to the area this morning ahead of our approaching system. Most of us will stay dry this morning, but that northeast wind will make it feel frigid. Snow will reach our northern-most counties right around the midday time frame, with the main event still approaching the rest of the area from the southwest. During the afternoon hours, snow will pick up along and north of Interstate 70, where we could see 1-3″ of snowfall, with the heavier amounts residing closer toward Highway 36. Warm ground temperatures will help melt some snow initially, but heavier snowfall rates will overcome those warmer temperatures so we could see a few slick spots in the afternoon and evening hours. South of I-70, expect to see more sleet and rain mixed in, but could still see some slick spots in our southern viewing areas.
TONIGHT : Precipitation will be wrapping up by 11 this evening. We’ll be looking at yet another cold night as lows drop into the low 20s for our northern counties and middle to upper 20s farther south.
EXTENDED: An isolated chance of some freezing sprinkles in the morning on Monday ahead of another system on the heels of this one. We’ll warm above freezing in the morning hours as the sun rises, so not expecting much in the way of impacts for the morning commute. Rain chances increase through the morning and continue through the day on Tuesday. Could hear a rumble of thunder or two Monday night into Tuesday morning, but at this moment nothing severe. Tuesday looks to be the warmest day of the week, before a cold front once again slides through Mid-Missouri. Middle part of the week once again looks calm with cooler temperatures before another low pressure system affects the region next weekend. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest forecast and updates.
