Two arrested after chase from Mexico to Auxvasse

Two people were arrested Saturday night after allegedly leading deputies and police on a chase through two mid-Missouri counties.

The Audrain County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and officers with the Mexico Department of Public Safety went to the Value Inn on Clark Street in Mexico to follow up on a stolen car.

The sheriff’s office said Philip Rotte, 19, of Mexico and Lindsey Slay, 24, of Middletown, were in a car. When officers approached them, the sheriff’s office said Slay sped off, almost hitting the officers with the car.

The two led deputies on a chase from Mexico into Auxvasse in Callaway County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said they found drugs and drug paraphernalia on Rotte. Slay was arrested on suspicion of assault on a law enforcement officer, hindering prosecuting, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Both are being held in the Audrain County Jail.
