A student was removed from Iberia High School on Tuesday after allegedly displaying a pocket knife in a threatening manner.

Superintendent Lyndel Whittle sent out a letter to Iberia families about the incident. Whittle said staff confiscated the knife and removed the student.

No students or staff members were harmed during the incident.

Whittle said, “I can assure you that we have taken steps to address this incident and will determine appropriate disciplinary action.”

Law enforcement is currently investigating the matter.

Whittle ended the letter by saying, “Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to evaluate ways we can make our schools safer.”
