New changes take effect when voting next Tuesday, April 3
With elections less than a week away, voters are being asked to pay close attention to their new voter registration cards that were sent out by March 15.
ABC 17 News reported last month that Cole County voters should discard their old voter registration cards and start using their new ones for this upcoming election. The same goes for Boone County voters.
According to the secretary of state’s website, Missouri’s new photo voter ID law, HB 1631 went into effect on June 1, 2017. Here are examples of acceptable IDs.
Boone County Clerk Taylor Burks said there are three acceptable photo ID options for voting, but the law that went into effect outlines options for registered voters on election day at their assigned locations.
“For the last year, the Missouri photo ID law went into effect, so now voters are asked for a photo ID whenever they come to the polling place,” Burks said.
Cole County Clerk Steve Korsmeyer said having a government photo ID will not only make voting a lot easier for voters but it can take less time for poll workers too.
Voters should contact county clerks in the area where they reside if they have not received their new voter registration cards.

Korsmeyer said the following districts in the Cole County area are not having elections because the elected official has no opponent:
Blair Oaks R-2 School Cole County R-1 School Moniteau County C-1 School
Officials with the clerk’s office said voters should be mindful of voting locations because many locations have changed since the last election in April 2016.
