Deputies make arrests in pizza delivery robbery investigations

UPDATE 3/26: Shelton has been charged with robbery in the first degree.

According to the probable cause statement, A Pizza Hut delivery driver arrived at an abandoned trailer and was robbed.

The victim claimed one of the suspects put a gun in his face and was told to hand everything over.

Shelton and the other suspect stole the pizza, a pizza bag and $40.

Officers said they were able to track Shelton down by the I.P. address from the online pizza order. The I.P. address was registered to the address of Shelton’s grandparents.

Shelton is also accused of robbing a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver on March 18 in Jefferson City.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim was sent to the 700 block of Maple Street to deliver pizza.

The victim told police he was approached by a man who pointed a gun at him and instructed him to give over the food and money.

Police said the phone number provided during the order was Shelton’s uncle’s.

Shelton admitted to placing the order and robbing the delivery driver with a toy gun.

Shelton was charged with robbery and armed criminal action.

ORIGINAL POST: An 18-year-old Jefferson City man was charged Friday accused of robbing a pizza delivery person in Callaway County.

Tarique Shelton is charged with armed criminal action and first-degree robbery.

The Callaway County Sheriff’s office said the first incident happened on Feb. 22 at Winterwood Estates just outside of Holts Summit. The driver reported two men stole the pizza, money and other items from him. He said one had a gun.

Deputies said a similar incident happened on March 15 at Winterwood Estates. The pizza delivery driver was able to get back into his car and leave the area.

The sheriff’s office said deputies took two 16-year-olds from Holts Summit into custody that night in connection to the incident.

Deputies interviewed Shelton on March 23 for his alleged involvement in the robbery in February.

Shelton is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
