Centertown man arrested after leading authorities on manhunt
UPDATE: Steen has been charged with domestic assault, tampering or attempting to tamper with a victim in a felony prosecution, tampering with a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of assault.
According to the probable cause statement, the incident stemmed from Steen assaulting multiple people at his residence. A woman called the police and Steen ran.
Steen admitted to police driving and crashing the car and said he ran because he knew he would be charged with a felony if he was caught.
Police said Steen also admitted to eating Klonopin the night before.
ORIGINAL STORY: Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on County Road 4016 on Thursday.
Joshua Steen, 33, of Centertown, allegedly assaulted multiple subjects and stole a vehicle from the scene, according to the official release.
At 9:55 a.m., Callaway County communications received a call about a traffic crash on State Road AA near County Road 4027.
Deputies determined the crashed vehicle on scene was the stolen vehicle and the driver was Steen. Steen fled on foot and let authorities on a manhunt.
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, multiple Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, and a Missouri State Highway Patrol aircraft responded to assist in the manhunt.
Steen was found by a state trooper on County Road 4031 near County Road 4021. He has been booked into the Callaway County Jail for felony tampering with a motor vehicle, felony domestic assault, felony leaving the scene of an accident and assault. Steen is being held without bond.
