Centralia woman accused of sending teen daughter to hospital after beating

A Centralia woman was charged earlier this week after police said a fight with her teenage daughter turned violent.

Kalinda Carpenter was booked into the Boone County Jail Friday afternoon.

According to a probable cause statement, Carpenter and her daughter were in an argument at a home on North Columbia Street on Monday.

Police said Carpenter hit her 14-year-old daughter with a wooden handle multiple times, threw her to the ground, pushed her head into the floor before slamming the teen’s head into a window causing it to shatter.

Officers said the teen had bruises and cuts and was taken to the hospital.

Carpenter was charged with first-degree domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse.

She’s currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
