Osage County inmate accused of injuring officer, damaging jail property

An Osage County inmate has been charged with assault and damage to jail property.

According to the probable cause statement, inmates told jail staff that if Darrell Riley was not moved from their pod there would be an issue.

Officers said they attempted to move Riley, at which time he became agitated and non-compliant with jail staff.

Riley was accused of yelling “no,” crossing his arms, punching a wall, and barricading himself with a shelf.

One officer said Riley shoved the shelf in her direction. The shelf hit her hand and caused a cut.

Deputies said they were able to eventually secure Riley in restraints and placed him in a holding cell.

Officers said Riley put a hole in the wall when he punched it and damaged the shelf.
