Officials investigate bar where fight broke out

Officials are investigating a bar where a fight broke over the weekend.

ABC 17 previously reported that one person had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital after a fight at F & J Sports Bar and Grill.

ABC 17 spoke with neighbors in the area who said they are concerned about the bar’s atmosphere and the owner’s behavior. They also said the bar has been a disaster since the owners started renting out the property nine months ago.

The Cole County clerk said the county has not issued a liquor license or received an application from the bar.

Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler said the investigation into the bar is still ongoing. Officers are currently working with the state fire marshal and Cole County prosecutors to look into the bar’s activities.

“We’re still under investigation, there’s still not a lot we’re going to release due to the fact it is an active investigation. I wouldn’t want to give out anything that would hamper the investigation,” Wheeler said.
