Staff member at two school districts placed on administrative leave after being charged with rape

A staff member at the California and Cole School Districts has been charged with statutory rape and sexual contact with a student after she was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old.

Moniteau County deputies were notified that Clairyssa Lorenz had sexual contact with a 16-year-old on Feb. 13.

The victim disclosed he had sex with Lorenz on multiple occasions beginning in late June/ early July of 2017.

The victim told officers that the two had a conversation about his age. Lorenz was allegedly fully aware of how old he was.

A spokesperson for the Cole R-1 School District said Lorenz was an elementary counselor. She was placed on administrative leave on Thursday.

The Cole R-1 School District said they were just made aware of the investigation against her on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the California R-1 School District said Lorenz was an assistant high school softball coach. The superintendent said they were made aware of the investigation two weeks ago.

Lorenz will not be coaching softball for the district next fall.
