Morgan County deputies investigate possible school shooting threat

Morgan County deputies are investigating a possible school shooting threat that was made on Sunday.

Deputies said the threat was made by an anonymous username on Snapchat. It was received by a former student of Morgan County R-1. A screen shot of the social media post included the phrase: “supposed to be a school shooting.”

Officers said the threat did not indicate what time our where the shooting would happen.

Extra police and deputies were at the Morgan County R-1 school on Monday. Superintendent Matt Unger said the extra law enforcement presence was “just to ease nerves.”

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing. Officers are asking anyone with information about the threat to contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department.
