First day of spring to feel more like winter
TUESDAY: While some sunshine is evident into the early afternoon hours, cloudy skies to our west will bring the return of overcast skies through the day. This will limit temperatures from warming much through the day, with highs only topping out in the mid 40s, with southern parts of Mid-Missouri likely climbing into the upper 40s. As a weak upper level disturbance tracks through, some sprinkles are possible mainly along and west of Highway 63. With winds out of the north up to 15 mph it won’t feel much like spring, as wind chill values will remain in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies hang around tonight as overnight lows drop back below freezing. With a steady wind out of the north up to 8 mph temperatures drop towards 30 with wind chills in the 20s.
EXTENDED: Through the rest of the week, a warming trend with more sunshine is back in the forecast. We’ll reach close to 50 Wednesday and near 60 Thursday. It will stay dry through most of the week before our next low pressure system begins to impact the area late Thursday into Friday. Light rain is possible in northeast Missouri Thursday morning, affecting areas east of HWY 63. Showers will become more likely Friday into Saturday as a warm front lifts across the area, bringing temperatures up into the low to mid 60s Saturday. At this time it looks like we’ll cool back into the upper 50s Sunday. Be sure to check back at ABC 17 to get the latest updates on the forecast throughout the week.
