Widespread rain and cooler through Monday evening

MONDAY: Keep that umbrella handy through the day, as widespread showers will continue to track through the region. Most of the activity will be along and south of I-70, where locations could see rain in excess of one inch. Due to the widespread rain that will track through the region, highs will only stay in the low to mid 40s this afternoon. Winds will be variable through the day, as a low pressure system slowly tracks to the east. We’ll see winds up to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. No severe weather is expected, but a few storms accompanied with lightning may roll through the region.

TONIGHT: Rain will end west to east through the night, with light rain showers and drizzle sticking around into the night. Overcast skies will once again stick around, with temperatures falling into the low to mid 30s. Winds will be breezy at times out of the north up to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 24. This will lead to wind chill values Tuesday morning in the 20s.

EXTENDED: Grab your coat early tomorrow as it will be a chilly morning commute. Clouds will be pesky and stick around through most of the day, with some brief breaks into the late afternoon hours. The first day of spring will feel more like winter, as highs will only climb into the mid 40s, with AM sprinkles/flurries possible. Through the rest of the week a nice warming trend and more sunshine is back in the forecast. High temperatures by Thursday will be more comfortable reaching towards 60. It will stay dry through most of the week before our next low pressure system begins to impact the area late Thursday night into Friday.
