Web Extra: Mizzou basketball prepares for NCAA tournament

The (8) Mizzou basketball team will face (9) Florida State Friday at 8:50 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The game marks the first NCAA tournament game for the Tigers since 2013.

MU has not won an NCAA tournament game since 2010. The Tigers have never gone farther than the Elite 8. Mizzou has reached that feat three times in 1994, 2002 and 2009. This is MU’s 27th appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Mizzou finished the regular season 20-12 overall and 10-8 in the SEC. The Tigers lost to Georgia in their opening SEC Tournament game this past Thursday in St. Louis. Meanwhile, Florida State finished 20-11 on the season before losing its opening ACC tournament game.

The Tigers and Seminoles make up two of the combined 17 teams in the NCAA tournament between the SEC and ACC.
