UPDATE: Burglary suspect turns himself in to Audrain County deputies

UPDATE – 3/13 – 8:00 A.M.: Audrain County deputies announced in a social media post that Benjamin Hancock was arrested Monday night.

The post said the 24-year-old turned himself in to the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office.

Hancock was wanted on the outstanding warrants related to a burglary investigation along Highway C in rural Centralia.

ORIGINAL: Audrain County deputies are searching for a man believed to be connected to a burglary.

Deputies said a resident saw a red or maroon Ford Fusion pull into his driveway on Tuesday. Two men got out of the car, while a third person stayed in the driver’s seat. The two men were accused of kicking open the door to the house.

The resident said he confronted the men and they left in the car in which they arrived. Officers said some items outside of the house were stolen before the men kicked in the door.

Deputies said Friday they executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of East Anderson Street and found evidence of the burglary and methamphetamine.

Officers arrested John Wright, 27, and Jacob Meador, 21 in connection with the the incident but are still looking for Benjamin Hancock, 24.

Wright faces possible charges of burglary, possession of a controlled substance, theft and property damage.

Meador faces possible charges of burglary, theft and property damage.

Officers ask anyone who knows where Hancock is to call the Audrain County CrimeStoppers at (800) 392-TIPS.
