Two men recovering from serious injuries after fight breaks out in Maries County
Two men are recovering after an assault left them with serious injuries on Saturday evening.
Maries County deputies said they responded to reports of a physical disturbance on MCR 634 in Dixon. When officers arrived on scene they saw two men that had serious injuries and needed medical attention.
Officers said the one man suffered a stab wound to the lower abdominal area and the other man had cuts to the head and suspected broken bones in one or both arms.
Deputies said initial reports indicate a fight broke out because one man tried to intervene in a disturbance he had heard happening next door. During the altercation, one man stabbed another man. The other man then armed himself with a nearby tree limb and used it to defend himself and inflicted head and arm injuries to the man carrying the knife.
Officers said the report on the incident will be submitted to the Maries County Prosecutor for review and charges are expected.
