Columbia police arrest man accused of stabbing another man with screwdriver

UPDATE 2:30 pm: Jones was charged with domestic assault and armed criminal action.

According to the probable cause statement, Jones has been convicted of assault in the past.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Jakob Hewett-Jones on Friday night after officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Ann Street in reference to a disturbance.

Police said Jones and a male victim were fighting over Jones’ significant other. During the fight, Jones was accused of getting a screwdriver and stabbing the victim in the thigh.

Officers said they saw a wound with significant bleeding on the victim’s thigh. The victim reported the medical staff told him the wounds were down to the muscle.

Jones faces possible charges of armed criminal action and domestic assault.
