Man faces stalking charges after he was accused of threatening woman’s life

UPDATE 5 pm: Roger Mahan is now charged with felony first degree stalking and harassment.

According to the probable cause statement, Mahan has a violent criminal history that includes assault against law enforcement, domestic assault and violation of an order of protection.

He is being held without bond.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Roger Mahan on Sunday night after officers were dispatched to the AMC Lanes on Providence Road in reference to a hostage situation.

When officers arrived on scene, they were advised that a woman was reportedly being held against her will at the Welcome Inn.

Police made contact with the victim and learned she was not being held against her will but was trying to get away from Mahan and had been getting threatening texts from him.

Officers said some of the texts threatened the victim’s life as well as her dog’s life.

Mahan faces possible charges of stalking and harassment.
