Clouds Increasing Ahead of Our Next System

TODAY: It looks like we’re in for another mild day across Mid-Missouri. Highs will warm once again into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Winds will again be blowing out of the southeast at 10-15 mph with gusts upward of 20 mph, so you’ll want to keep a close eye on anything you burn outside today. Clouds will be on the increase this afternoon as our next weather-maker approaches from the west. Can’t rule out some showers toward Highway 65 this afternoon, but any activity we see this afternoon will be light.

TONIGHT : Our best chance for rain will come tonight ahead of an approaching system. There will be small amounts of instability with the initial round, so a few rumbles of thunder overnight could be heard, but nothing severe. Winds will pick up slightly overnight gusting to 25 mph as low temperatures only fall to the middle 40s.

EXTENDED : Showers will continue into the beginning of the work week across Mid-Missouri. As this front finally passes through the region toward the middle of your Monday, winds will shift to a more westerly direction, and clouds will gradually clear from west to east. The sun will make its return Monday afternoon as we warm into the middle 50s for highs. Tuesday afternoon and evening, we’re continuing to track another chance for precipitation as this system finally moves out of the area. If enough cold air filters in with this precipitation, could see a snowflake or two mixing in with rain, but no accumulations. Wednesday and Thursday we will be stuck in a cold air pattern aloft with highs struggling to reach 40 degrees. We will look to rebound into the low to middle 50s as we head into next weekend just in time for another low pressure system to work its way into Mid-Missouri.
