Orscheln Farm and Home catches fire in Jefferson City

On Friday at 4:50 p.m, the Jefferson City Fire Department was called to a structure fire at the Orscheln Farm and Home on 3104 S Ten Mile Dr.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they reported fire showing from the front part of the store on the outside with heavy smoke banking down inside the store.

According to the official press release, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire on the exterior of the building, while other arriving crews conducted a search of the store to ensure that no one was inside the building.

There were no reported injuries. It took firefighters less than 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Material on the outside of the building appear to be the area of the origin. That material was large packaged combustible wood shavings (saw dust).

There was damage to the outside part of the building and some merchandise was destroyed. 14 personnel were on the scene in total. The cuase of the fire is still undetermined.
