K-9 takes down suspect after foot pursuit
UPDATE 3/1 5:35 pm: Pacheco has been charged with possession of controlled substance, resisting or interfering with arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful use of weapon.
Pacheco’s bond has been set at $300,000.
UPDATE 3/1: Columbia police arrested Dylan Pacheco after a CPD K-9 took him down on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers said they were initially dispatched to the area of Proctor Drive for reports of multiple shots being heard. Police got further information that the suspect was carrying a bag in the area.
Police found Pacheco carrying a bag in the 1900 block of Bear Creek Drive.
Officers said they told Pacheco to stop but he began to run on foot.
A chase ensued and police saw Pacheco leave the bag in the 200 block of Phyllis Avenue. A search of the bag found a box of ammunition and methamphetamine. Officers also found a firearm near the bag.
Pacheco faces possible charges of resisting arrest, unlawful use of weapons, unlawful for certain people to possess a concealable firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

ABC 17 crews were on scene when they saw a K-9 take down the suspect before officers arrested the man.
The incident occurred in the area of North Garth and Phyllis.
