Columbia police arrest man accused of driving on the wrong side of the road, threatening officers

Columbia police arrested Robert Wallace on Wednesday night after officers were dispatched to 26 E. Business Loop in reference to a vehicle collision.

Police said they made contact with Wallace and could smell alcohol. Officers said they were unable to determine if Wallace had been driving the car while he was impaired.

Minutes later, officers saw Wallace driving his car in the same area. Police conducted a traffic stop and while they were walking to Wallace’s car, he took off.

A chase began and Wallace started to drive on the wrong side of the road.

Officers eventually arrested Wallace in the 400 block of Lasalle Place.

Wallace was accused of resisting arrest by pulling away from officers, he also threatened the lives of officers and spit on one.

Wallace faces possible charges of operating a motor vehicle on the highway with a revoked license, resisting arrest, assault and driving while intoxicated.
