Troopers host training seminar on how to protect houses of worship

The Highway Patrol’s Missouri Information Analysis Center provided training based on the threats from faith-based locations and events on Monday night.

Camden County deputies said the training was designed for church officials, church security officers and law enforcement officials.

The training took place at the Osage Beach City Hall and numerous people attended.

Lt. Joe Botta said, “It was great to see church officials and law enforcement coming together as a team to protect our faith-based community.”

Sheriff Tony Helms said, “I don’t want to debate gun control; however we must be allowed to protect ourselves through any means necessary. Our main goal is to keep the citizens of our community safe. We, as law enforcement, will be here to assist any faith-based church in establishing a safety program. We will also be here to assist any school.”
