Man pleads guilty to hitting woman with baseball bat, stealing her car

An Iowa man pleaded guilty to domestic assault, armed criminal action and stealing a motor vehicle in Callaway County court on Monday.

Christopher Tapscott admitted that he hit a female victim on her head with a baseball bat in September of 2016. He also admitted that he stole the victim’s car and fled to Illinois.

The victim sustained bruises and cuts to her scalp.

Tapscott was arrested by Illinois authorities and was charged and convicted of aggravated fleeing.

A Callaway County judge sentenced Tapscott to six years in prison for the assault, three years in prison for armed criminal action and five years for stealing the car.

Tapscott is currently in the Callaway County Jail.
