Number of flu cases in Missouri still in thousands but slowly decreasing

According to updated data from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, influenza activity in the state is still considered widespread.

Data from week seven of the flu season shows there was a total of 7,289 people who tested positive for the virus.

In Boone County alone, the data shows 420 people tested positive for the flu.

Taking a look through data from the previous weeks though, the number of cases started to decrease. In Boone County, data from week six showed 541 reported cases of the virus, which was down from 579 the week before that.

Health officials continued to advise people to get the flu vaccine because the season is not yet over.
