Periods of rain through Saturday, possible flooding

TONIGHT: Another round of wet weather tracks into Mid-Missouri through the night, with the potential for localized flooding. The heaviest rain will exist near Interstate 44, where Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday night. Rain will build into Mid-Missouri through the night and lift to the northeast. Temperatures will stay above freezing for most of the region, which will limit us with just a cold rain. There is a chance of freezing rain briefly by the morning for areas north of HWY 36 in northern Missouri as temperatures hover near the freezing mark.

SATURDAY: Rain tapers off in the morning but scattered showers and isolated t-storms move back in by early afternoon, continuing into the evening hours before ending. Rainfall amounts will range from 1 to 2 inches from HWY 54 southward with lower amounts of up to a half inch in our northwestern counties. Flooding is possible in the Ozarks due to the additional 1-2 inches of rainfall. High temperatures will range from the upper 40s north of I-70 to the mid to upper 50s in the Ozarks as warmer air lifts north through the day.

EXTENDED: Rain moves out Saturday evening as cooler air moves in behind a cold front, dropping lows to near 30 by Sunday morning. Sunshine will be abundant Sunday with highs in the low 50s. We’ll start warming again early next week with highs reaching the upper 50s Monday and low to mid 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain moves in Tuesday night with another round Wednesday as a storm system passes through, dropping us back into the lower 50s for the start of March.
