Slow warming trend, with more rain into the weekend
THURSDAY: Temperatures this afternoon are slowly climbing above freezing, which means any locations still seeing mist and drizzle will be of the liquid type. Into the afternoon hours as temperatures begin to climb, we’ll see any accumulating freezing rain melt. Due to the overcast skies and melting ice, many locations will only top out near 40 degrees today, with winds out of the east up to 10 mph.
TONIGHT: This evening light rain showers will move in from the south and track to the northeast through the late evening hours ending by 5 AM. Temperatures will remain above freezing all night long, with temperatures remaining nearly stationary near 40 degrees. Any rain we see through the overnight hours will be up to .50″, with higher amounts near I-44. A few rumbles of thunder is possible near Interstate 44, where a few storms are likely to develop.
EXTENDED: Temperatures will climb into the lower 50s Friday afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. Another round of rain moves in Friday night with on and off rain Saturday as temperatures stay above freezing, reaching the upper 50s Saturday afternoon. The highest rain amounts look to be south of I-44, with 1-1.5″ of rain possible over most of Mid-Missouri. A subtle shift north in the track could yield higher amounts, which is something to watch in the next 24 hours. Sunday looks dry and mild with highs in the mid 50s. By next week we dry out a bit with warmer weather as highs remain in the 50s. Make sure to watch ABC 17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
