No injuries reported after firefighters respond to structure fire in Jefferson City

UPDATE 12:40 pm: Firefighters said the cause of the fire looks to be accidental and is thought to have started on the porch.

Officials believe an electric blanket was the cause.

ORIGINAL STORY: Jefferson City firefighters responded to the 2200 block of Oakview Drive on Thursday morning for reports of a structure fire.

Firefighters said when they arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke and flames.

Officials said one person was at the house at the time of the fire but was able to get out safely. No other injuries were reported.

The fire extended into the attic, causing firefighters to stay on scene for a couple of hours.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
