Rain and wintry mix through Tuesday evening

TONIGHT: There is a Winter Weather Advisory until midnight west of HWY 63, until 6 AM east of HWY 63 and until 10 AM Wednesday in the Ozarks south of HWY 50. Also, there is a Flood Watch south of I-70 through Tuesday night for possible localized flooding and flooding of small creeks and streams due to 1 to 2 inches additional rainfall. Rain will continue through the night, gradually ending from northwest to southeast as temperatures fall below freezing. This will cause the rain to change to sleet and freezing rain for a brief time with a glaze to tenth inch of ice possible. As ground temperatures fall to the freezing mark, roads could become slick. Bridges and overpasses which cool faster could see ice formation quickly as temperatures fall to the low to mid 20s overnight. Northerly winds will continue at 10-15 mph overnight. Precipitation moves south if I-44 by 5 AM.

WEDNESDAY: It will be a cold and mainly dry day with mostly cloudy skies and highs only in the mid to upper 30s. Northerly winds of 10-13 mph will make it feel like the teens in the morning to low to mid 20s in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: Winds will shift ot the south and warmer air will start to move in early Thursday. There is another chance of a wintry mix late Wednesday night into Thursday morning as moisture moves back into the area from the south as temperatures remain below freezing. Freezing rain is possible early Thursday morning before temperatures climb into the low to mid 40s with rain likely again in Thursday evening and overnight. The rain ends Friday morning and temperatures will climb into the lower 50s in the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. Another round of rain moves in Friday night with on and off rain Saturday as temperatures stay above freezing, reaching the 50s Saturday afternoon. Sunday looks dry and mild with highs in the mid 50s. Make sure to watch ABC 17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
