This week kicks off on an active note

TODAY: You will need to grab the umbrella out the door all of today as we will have chances for rain throughout Monday. Spotty showers look to begin for the morning commute as temperatures begin in the 50s. Chances of rain with a few rumbles of thunder look to pick up by this afternoon, with some pockets of heavy down pours. Temperatures will feel more like late April as we touch near 70 degrees thanks to breezy southerly winds. Gusts could be as high as 32 mph.

TONIGHT: As winds hold breezy out of the south, overnight lows won’t drop much as temperatures remain in the upper 50s by morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms look to continue tonight and increase by Tuesday morning.

EXTENDED: We should see a more steady rainfall increase across the area into early Tuesday. The rain could be heavy at times. As a cold front tracks through the early by late Tuesday into Wednesday we’re tracking the potential for a wintry mix by Wednesday morning. The chance for freezing rain and sleet looks spotty, but we could see some impacts to the roads on Wednesday as highs only reach into the low 30s. Temperatures will rebound into the 40s Thursday and continuing to warm through the end of the week. By Friday, another shot of rain is possible across the area. With all the rain, there are some flooding concerns this week, especially where we see the heaviest rainfalls set up to the southeast. Rainfall totals by midweek could range from 2-3″, with lesser totals to the northwest. Make sure to watch ABC 17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
