Meth found in California man’s car during traffic stop

One man is behind bars after Moniteau County deputies found a “substantial amount of methamphetamine” in his car during a traffic stop on highway 87.

According to a news release, a K-9 unit was called to the scene after deputies spoke with the driver, 27-year old Zachary Martin of California, Missouri.

Martin was transported to the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on suspicion of delivery of a controlled substance. His bond is set at $50,000.

Tony Wheatley, the Moniteau County Sheriff, attached a note to the description of Martin’s arrest to address drug use in the county.

“The flow of drugs into and out of Moniteau County has slowed considerably,” Wheatley said. “However, there are those that will try to continue their illegal activities.”
