UPDATE: Police determine fatal pedestrian crash on I-70 was not an accident

UPDATE 4:50 pm: Columbia police said after an investigation it was determined the crash was not an accident.

Officers said due to the nature of the incident, no more information would be released.

UPDATE 3:11 a.m.: Columbia police have confirmed one person is dead after being hit by a semi-truck on I-70 near Rangeline Street around 1 a.m.

Police said the person did not have an ID and their phone was broken on impact. The body has not been identified. ABC 17 News is also told there was no car in the area, and police still don’t know why the person was on the highway. They do not have any reason to believe they were homeless.

Original story: Columbia police are blocking I-70 eastbound at the Rangeline exit for an incident on one of the ramps. Traffic is being diverted onto Rangeline Street.
