UPDATE: Police confirm fatal morning crash on I-70

ORIGINAL: Columbia police and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers blocked off the left lane of I-70 westbound near mile marker 129 Saturday morning.
UPDATE 1:45 p.m.: Columbia police confirm an individual died this morning after an individual was struck by a vehicle this morning on I-70 westbound.
The victim, 35-year old Jerry Martin of Florissant, was walking on the road when he was struck, according to police. It’s not clear which direction Martin was walking.
The vehicle, believed to be a silver passenger car, left the scene after the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbia Police Department.
UPDATE 12 p.m.: I-70 has been reopened. Columbia police cleared the scene of the investigation.
Law enforcement officers have flares along the highway for about half a mile to a mile for an investigation.
ABC 17 News reached out to CPD for more information about what officers were investigating for at least three hours on I-70 westbound near mile marker 129, and we are waiting for a response.
