Feeling like winter today, with a mild weekend in store
FRIDAY: It’s a chilly afternoon across Mid-Missouri, with temperatures holding steading near freezing. Despite the breezy winds out of the northwest, we’ll see temperatures warm into the upper 30s today thanks to the very dry conditions we are seeing. Skies will gradually clear out through the day, and the breezy conditions will come to an end by the late afternoon hours.
TONIGHT: Temperatures tonight will drop below average as lows dip into the upper 20s by morning. Clouds will shift back out of the southwest tonight up to 8 mph as clouds increase back into the area. Wind chills won’t be much lower than the actual air temperature, but they will drop into the low 20s.
EXTENDED: The drop in temperatures will be brief as this weekend highs will rise back in the upper 40s Saturday and upper 50s to near 60 Sunday. An upper level wave moving through Saturday will increase clouds but rain chances are limited. A few flurries can’t be ruled out from morning before changing to all rain into the early afternoon, with the best chance south of I-70. A better chance of widespread rain moves in Sunday night through Tuesday with an active weather pattern early next week. On and off rain is expected through Tuesday night with highest rain totals for the two day event of up to 2 inches possible near I-44 and lower amounts to the north. We could hear a few rumbles of thunder into early next week. In addition to the wet week next week, temperatures look to rebound back into the upper 60s by Monday but drop to near 40 by Wednesday.
