Columbia man accused of kidnapping, child endangerment

Columbia police officers were called to the 1700 block of Amelia Street just before 11 p.m. Tuesday for a reported abduction.

“The investigation revealed that Kevin Aaron got a ride to the residence above and went inside and took his two year old son without permission,” said officer Latisha Bruns. “His son was being watched by a family member at the above address. The family member said Aaron mumbled that he and the baby were going to be dead.”

The relative called 9-1-1 and the baby’s mother when Aaron got into a vehicle with the baby and left the area.

“A female subject said Aaron got back in the vehicle and he had his two year old son with him,” said Bruns. “The female said Aaron didn’t have a car seat for the baby and had him in his arms sitting in the front seat. The female said Aaron demanded she start driving away from the residence.”

Aaron was arrested a short time later and the toddler wasn’t harmed.

Aaron was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and then arrested on suspicion of first degree child endangerment, kidnapping, and on a misdemeanor warrant for domestic assault with a bond of $1,500.
