Emergency crews respond to several crashes in Jefferson City
UPDATE, 10:10 p.m.: Jefferson City police says two people were hurt in a crash on Highway 50.
The department said the driver of a Dodge Charger rear-ended a Dodge Journey in front of it that was braking for a slowing Chevy Silverado ahead. Two people in the Journey suffered minor injuries.
Police closed a lane of Highway 50 for 40 minutes to investigate the crash.
ORIGINAL: Emergency crews responded to several crashes in Jefferson City Wednesday night.
MoDOT first reported a crash in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 at Whitton Expressway just east of Missouri Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. ABC 17 News is working to find out if anyone was hurt.
Around the same time, first responders also worked a two-car crash at the intersection of Dix Road and Missouri Boulevard. ABC 17 News was told at the scene that both drivers suffered minor injuries.
Before 5 p.m. emergency crews were dispatched to a collision on Highway 54 at Highway 94. The crash caused a traffic backup on the Missouri River Bridge.
Around 6 p.m. first responders extricated one person from a vehicle after a wreck involving two vehicles at Highway 179 and Highway 50. ABC 17 News was told at the scene that one of the drivers was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
