Spring makes a brief return, cold makes a pushback Friday.

THIS AFTERNOON: We’ll continue to see partly cloudy conditions throughout the day as temperatures rise into the mid-40s. Winds should remain light out of the south at 3-7mph.

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds from the southwest will stream into Mid-Missouri and bring an isolated shot for some showers in southern parts of Mid-Missouri. The cloudy skies will keep us about 15 degrees warmer, as lows bottom out near 35 degrees. Winds through the evening will be out of the south up to 10 mph.

EXTENDED: Isolated showers will come to an end by daybreak Wednesday, with little rainfall expected. Any rain we do see will be up to a tenth of an inch, with the highest accumulation in southeastern Mid-Missouri. Wednesday will be mainly dry, breezy and mild as temperatures climb to near 60 under partly sunny skies. Southerly winds will gust as high as 30 mph at times in the afternoon. We’ll have another mild day Thursday as we reach into the low 60s before another cold front moves through the region. This will lead to falling temperatures late in the day, with the chance for some rain showers. Spotty showers are possible in the morning, but become more likely by the afternoon with light rainfall amounts. Most areas will see a quarter inch or less but areas closer to I-44 could see up to a half inch of rain. Colder air moves in Thursday night and it will be much colder by Friday morning as we start the day in the mid 20s and only reach the lower 30s for highs. The drop in temperatures will be brief as next weekend highs will rise back in the 40s and 50s under partly cloudy skies with rain chances returning Sunday night.
