Remaining cold, with freezing drizzle to end by mid-morning

SUNDAY: Snow has been hard to come back, as the atmosphere just isn’t conducive for snow development. Freezing drizzle has been falling through most of the night, with a sheet of ice covering all of Mid-Missouri. Freezing drizzle will slowly start to taper off from west to east through the morning, as the upper level support swings through the region. As the drizzle comes to an end, we’ll see the clouds take some time to clear out of the region. Highs today will top out in the mid to upper 20s, with some peaks of sunshine by late in the day. Winds out of the northwest up to 11 mph will make most of the day feel like it’s in the teens.

TONIGHT: Slick surfaces still expected through the overnight hours, as temperatures will still be well below freezing. Mostly clear skies and northerly winds up to 9 mph will make for a bitterly cold evening. Overnight lows will bottom out near 11 degrees, with windchill values near 0 by the morning.

EXTENDED: Following a cold start to the week, temperatures will rapidly warm into the coming days. Monday will still be chilly, as easterly flow will keep highs in the 30s even with the sunny skies present. From Tuesday through Thursday, temperatures will climb into the 40s and even upper 50s, as winds back around out of the south. Wednesday and Thursday will be the warmest days, as many spots will likely squeeze out some 60s into the afternoon hours. By Thursday another cold front will track through the region. This will lead to falling temperatures through the day, with the chance for some showers. Due to the progressive nature of the frontal boundary and upper level support, very little moisture will be present with this system. Into next weekend highs will be in the 40s under partly cloudy skies. Watch ABC 17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
