Weekend Wintry Mix
TODAY: Freezing drizzle will taper off this morning and it will be largely dry during the day except for patchy freezing drizzle in spots. Temperatures will stay in the mid 20s with wind chills in the low teens. Winds will be out of the north at 10-13 mph.
TONIGHT : Precipitation will increase during the evening, becoming more widespread tonight. Areas north of I-70 will be looking at mainly snow with some freezing drizzle mixed in early in the night while south of I-70, it will be mainly freezing rain and sleet with some light snow mixed in by later in the night. Snowfall amounts up to an inch are expected north of HWY 50 with only a dusting possible farther south. 1-2 inches snowfall is expected near and just north of I-70 with 2-4 inches possible north of HWY 24. Ice accumulation from a glaze near I-70 to just over a tenth near I-44 through Saturday night.
EXTENDED: Snow will gradually end in the morning Sunday and it will remain cold but dry by the afternoon. Highs will stay in the 20s with lows Sunday night near 10. We start the rebounding effort on Monday as highs bounce back to the middle 30s as we’re on our way to low 50s by Wednesday.
