Mizzou basketball wins third straight SEC game after beating Ole Miss
For just the third time since joining the SEC, the Mizzou basketball team has won three conference games in a row. The Tigers defeated Ole Miss on the road 75-69.
Following the win, Mizzou improves to 16-8 (6-5 SEC).
SEC player of the week Kassius Robertson led all players with a season-high 27 points. Meanwhile, Jontay Porter had 18 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. The Tigers are now 11-0 when Porter scores at least 10 points.
Jordan Barnett struggled shooting 0-4 and finishing with two points.
Mizzou shot 45 percent from the field and 44 percent from three. The Tigers also limited their turnovers to 11 after nearly doubling that total against Kentucky.
The Tigers struggled out of the gate after the Rebels went on an 11-0 run. However, Mizzou battled back to take a 30-20 lead off a pair of threes by Robertson. Mizzou led by nine at half, 40-31.
Ole Miss went on a run in the second half to eventually take the lead 61-60. Then, Porter and Robertson took over with a three and a wide open lay up by Porter giving Mizzou a 65-63 lead.
Porter sealed the game with a block at the rim in the final minutes as Mizzou earned its third straight win.
Mizzou next returns home to face Mississippi State Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Rally for Rhyan game.
