Jefferson City Public Works monitoring road conditions

A spokesperson for Jefferson City Public Works confirmed there are 24 plow trucks on standby in case of reports of slick roads Tuesday evening.

However, updated forecasts show the city could see less snow and/or ice than originally anticipated.

After treating the roads for two consecutive days, Jefferson City Public Works did not add any salt to the roads Tuesday. District Engineer David Silvester with the Missouri Department of Transportation said they are doing something similar.

Silvester said because of the previous treatments there are “some areas we really don’t need to do much with.”

Several crashes and slide-offs were reported Sunday and Monday, including one fatality reported by Troop F of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Some areas of Mid-Missouri are under a winter weather advisory from 2 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
