Another dusting of ice and snow possible this evening
TUESDAY: It will be a cold start followed by a cold afternoon as high temperatures only rise into the mid 20s under mostly cloudy skies. Snow showers will spread from west to east beginning Tuesday afternoon mainly north of I-70 and gradually developing farther south from late afternoon into the evening hours. Snow will move east and end by 4 AM Wednesday. Snowfall amounts are expected to come in anywhere from 1-2 inches with lighter amounts the further south you go. Isolated spots near I-44 could also see some freezing rain at the onset of the event, with a glaze of ice possible. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for areas south of I-70 due to the combination of snow and ice that goes into effect this afternoon until tomorrow morning.
TONIGHT: As snowfall ends temperatures will drop towards 16 degrees by tomorrow morning. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with winds out of the northwest up to 9 mph creating feels like temperatures to drop into the single digits.
EXTENDED: Some Travel impacts can be expected to continue by Wednesday morning with any leftover ice and snow on the ground. Skies will begin to clear by Wednesday as high temperatures remain below average in the low 30s. By the end of the work week temperatures will rise back into the 40s, but another cool down is in store for your weekend, also bringing us a slight chance for some active weather.
