Breezy Weekend in Mid-Missouri
TODAY: We have a mild day in store for us this afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the middle to upper 40s aided by a wind out of the south at 12-18 mph. Those winds could be gusting at times up to 30 mph, so any outdoor burning is discouraged.
TONIGHT : We can’t completely rule out some spotty sprinkles or a light rain/snow mix tonight ahead of our approaching cold front, but most of us will stay dry. Lows will drop into the middle 20s under mostly cloudy skies. Wind will shift from the south to northwest overnight as a cold front passes through Mid-Missouri.
EXTENDED: Sunday will be noticeably colder as our cold front ushers in chillier temperatures. With our winds out of the northwest and persistent, we will see temperatures actually drop throughout the day, falling to the middle 20s around 5 pm. Another quick-moving system will come through the area behind this front bringing a slight chance for some snow Sunday afternoon as well. As dry as this system is going to be, flurries look to be the most likely scenario. Skies will clear out Sunday night and temperatures will bottom out around 10 degrees by Monday morning with wind chills in the single digits. Our next weather-maker will come Monday night into Tuesday. This system will have more moisture, so the chance of seeing measurable precipitation will be better. With the track of this system being so critical to precipitation type and amount, we will have to continue to monitor it this weekend. The remainder of the week looks to continue our cold weather pattern with below average temperatures. Watch ABC 17 news and check back on our website for updates to your forecast.
